Macho misogyny, phallic guitar postures, fantasy art fails and homoerotic hilarity. All elements which are regular features in many a heavy rock and metal album cover. From pumped up posers to preening powder puffs, however the band pose for that album cover photo shoot, the results are often turn-out looking more like Mr. May of a Leather Joy Boys calender, than hard-drinking, hard fighting, hard loving, hard rock look they were going for. Waving your "axe" around like an overcompensating fool, is a major phallic fail. What about employing fantasy art? Well you better be sure your employing a blood good fantasy artist! Throw in some blood and guts? About as shocking as limp sausage on the butcher's block. Heavy metal and rock album covers are one of the those genres, that when they get it wrong, they get it spectacularly wrong.
