Bloody Good Scenes Of Mass Murder
Ever wondered what some of the bloodiest scenes of mass slaughter are in horror movies? Well look no further. Yeah there are plenty of movies out there with buckets of blood scenes, The Shining's elevator scene, the gushing blood from the wall in Evil Dead 2. Blood and guts spraying up the walls, is part and parcel of many horror movies. But there aren't that many that take both the gore, and the body count and turn it up to 11. Here are a hand-full of the best horror movie scenes that weren't afraid to take things that one step beyond!

Braindead (AKA Dead Alive) (1992): With over 300 litres of blood used, the lawnmower scene towards the end of Braindead is not only one of the goriest and blood drenched in cinema, it's also one of the funniest. Directed by Peter Jackson, before hit the the Hollywood big-time, Braindead has become a genre classic of zombie horror, horror comedy and splatter movies. That's some going for a low budget flick from New Zealand.

Ghost Ship (2002): Let's get out of the way right from the start, Ghost Ship is awful. However, the opening scene which promised so much of the rest of the movie, is brilliant. A balletic and brutal scene, in which a loose cable slices through almost ever passenger of the cruise ship in seconds. The slight pause before they drop to the floor is wonderful.

The Cabin In The Woods (2012): The horror movie for horror fans, is a hit and miss affair, but when the monsters get loose it's slaughter central. It's impossible to work out who has murdered who, as the scene cuts time and time again. But the moment that the guards come through the door and witness the carnage. More than makes up for the flaws.

Blade (1998): The body count isn't that high, but it is a damn bloody opening scene. Just before Blade walks in and puts an end to the vampire disco, blood literally pours down from the sprinkler system overhead, drenching the vamps in the red stuff.
